conference
A citizen media conference for western New England and the region (not necessarily limited to geography) was, at one point, under consideration. A few of us even got together to hash out the idea.
Then we found out about the Media Giraffe Project, and its conference set to take place in late June 2006. Some of us in our fledgling regional citizen media group attended. We learned, made new connections, and kindled our own flames a little. We made mental notes about the state of grassroots blogging and the use of new media in the mainstream press. We’re sticking with our projects and are still interested in getting together to give each other support in what we’re doing individually. These informal get-togethers are ongoing.
Whether a conference of our own will take place is a question that remains unanswered. In the meantime, there are other regional gatherings to attend, slowly increasing in number, and we’re gradually learning more about them. If you’re interested in learning about these, post to the citizen media blog with questions or ideas.
